The USCC Museum is located in the center of Gettsyburg in a very famous location. The home of the USCC Museum is nearly 200 years old, originally built in 1820. It is the home where Jennie Wade was born and lived until she was 11 years old. She of course becomes the only civilian killed during the battle of Gettysburg while bravely serving the soldiers.
In order to bring to life an aspect of the battle that most visitors do not think about, on Saturday August 8th, 2009 we teamed up with the 14th Conn. Living Historians and made Wade Avenue a civil war camp ! The USCC Coffee wagon was in action serving hot coffee, a doctor buggy complete with horse, a civil war winter quarters and soldier tent made up a camp in the street next to the USCC Museum! In addition, soldiers from the 14th Conn. Regt were in full field uniform to present the life of a common soldier, Joseph Pierce and details of the 14th Conn. Regt at Gettsyburg.
Presentations were also presented on the USCC and the Coffee Wagon, building the replica Coffee Wagon and "The Faith of Lincoln". Tours of the USCC Musuem were offered all day.
Congratulations and Thank You to all who helped make this a success! See you next year!
