The 146th Anniversary Battle of Gettysburg Re enactment was held on Pumping Station Road on the YIngLing Farm, and location of filming for the movie "Gettysburg". This year had beautiful weather and made for a good weekend for all involved!
The U.S. Christian Commission Living History Village featured the USCC Coffee Wagon, 30' Chapel tent, Field Hospital Station, TInSmith David MacClean, and a soldiering area. We met visitors from all around the country and it seemed a majority had never been to Gettysburg and/or the re-enactment. This was great to see and have a chance to introduce the USCC efforts during the war, and give them a "soldier bible". We handed out Books of John with USCC labels to re create a portion of the work done by the USCC. Of course a hot cup of coffee from the wagon was also available.( I always promote the civil war experience, not the taste...but its really pretty good!)
Thanks to USCC delegates from Oswego, NY., Little Rock, Arkansas, St.Louis, Missouri for making your mission trip to Gettysburg. See you again in 2010!!
Next year the Gettysburg re enactment is already in the planning process. Looks like it will be a four day event instead of three! Plan now to attend and visit the USCC Living History Village in action!
