Civil War Coffee Wagon Comes to Gettysburg!!
The USCC brought the Coffee Wagon to Gettysburg for the first time! The USCC Coffee Wagon was displayed at the new USCC Museum in Gettysubrg during the Gettysburg Anniversary Month of July.
(Gettysburg, Pennsylvania) - 7/1/2006
The USCC Coffee Wagon was built like a canon caisson, pulled by two horses and could brew up to 90 gallons an hour of coffee, tea or cocoa for the troops during the civil war. Built and patented in 1863 by Jacob Dunton, it exemplifies the mission of the USCC...serving the body and the soul.
Visitors to the museum had the opportunity to drink coffee from the Coffee Wagon, a civil war experience few have been able to do.
The Civil War News and the Hanover Evening Sun published stories in their newspapers that featured the USCC Coffee Wagon.
